"Zendala" weekly challenge

This week CZT Geneviève Crabe is guest hosting the weekly challenge and has presented a mandala template for us to use to create Zentangle inspired mandalas. For some reason I don't really like the term "zendala", but I haven't yet figured out why. I decided to use the tile sized template rather than the larger one.

I knew I wanted to use Betweed around the edge. Then the 'Ixorus' star developed, and the Hollibaugh ribbons, and the dotty patterns in the 'star'.

Tangles: Betweed, Caviar, Hollibaugh, Tipple

I think I became a bit over-confident with the second one. It seems just too simple (simplistic?). I think it looks a little too much like a coaster. I have plenty of tiles that I think would make terrific coasters, but that's partly because they don't look like coasters!

Tangles: Ixorus?, Sanibelle, Snookums and something resembling Shattuck sort of.

Then I decided to add a true string, which divided the mandala template into some interesting sections.
Tangles: Caviar, Crescent Moon, Fescu, black Pearlz, Striping

All in all, I think I like the first one best. That's unusual; I usually like the later tiles in these challenges.
Thanks Geneviève!
