Auraknot

Auraknot is the new tangle from Zentangle central. It looks wonderfully interwoven and can look a bit like Celtic knotwork in some cases. Auraknot ia also this week's challenge from the Diva.

Here are my first two tries. On the left Auraknot with Tripoli and Black Pearlz. On the right I tried threading the tangle Blake through the Auraknot. It wasn't as successful as I'd hoped but I do like the wavy lines from the points.

Then I tried two on round tiles. The first was a blank tile, and I wanted to try Auraknot beginning with 'a Fengle' and a circle running through it. Then it went on all kinds of adventures!
Tangles: Auraknot, Beadlines, Black Pearlz, Knightsbridge Auras,
Paradox, Rounding, and elements of Cadent, Finery, Munchin,
Purslane, Sanibelle, Striping, Tripoli, and possibly more. Whew!

The second round tile was one with a pre-strung template and it's very regular. I used only Auraknot and some elements of Florez. This is a fun tangle. I think the only thing I don't like is that the shading can be quite finnicky. But I try to be zen about it. I'll be using this tangle again.

  2. Oh. My. Goodness.

These are totally amazing, especially your first round tile. It's just incredible, and you may just have converted me to loving Auraknot. It makes me want to do another one. Now.

  3. Love the last one especially, it looks like the ceiling of a pagoda with the eyes of little bats looking down on you. Fun, imagining things. Your fengle merge is amazing too!

  4. These are all fabulous, Margaret! I am especially awed by your Fengle-esque Zendala. And Joni's comment about the pagoda ceiling, bats & all, made me smile big! :-D

  6. I was going to press some Like buttons but that's another website!
In the first round one, I think the fact that they're in pairs makes it look like eyes. I don't mind at all. :)

  10. Wow, they are stunning, especially the first round one. The second round one also looks incredible.

I've only started tangling and have played around a bit with Auraknot. I'm still struggling with such basic things like lines that pretend to be partially straight and don't get me started on stars, but it's a lot of fun and a nice mental relaxation.

    1. If you actually try to follow the lines in anything I posted, you'll find that something somewhere went screwy! But the effect is still there. Just keep-a-goin'.

  13. Gorgeous work, Margaret! The Fengle Zendala with the circle is simply stunning! I thought the last one looked like flowers until I read the bat's eyes and now that is all I can see, LOL!

  14. Auraknot's a keeper, isn't it? Those squiggly lines on the second tile are perfect! Love the adventure and spontaneity of the third tile, contrasted with the regularity and symmetry of the fourth tile. You always inspire me to stretch myself...thank you for sharing!

  15. Like other's who've visited and commented here I really think your first round tile is stunning. Adventures doesn't even begin to describe how exploratory and exciting it is, especially to a newbie like me... something to aspire to.

  19. Your work is always inspirational. I have spent the last 15 minutes looking at all of these tiles; I love them all; but the zendalas are extra special. The first one, on a blank tile is awesome; so many tangles working together to make a gorgeous whole; and the second one is so uniform, and I love the "eyes" except to me they look like parts of flowers.
