Phicops

Brad Harms' tangle Phicops is this week's challenge from the DivaCZT, Laura Harms. Yes, they're related, and there are two small boys to prove it. :)

Phicops is one of those tangles that, for me, requires more concentration. I can't seem to get that 'curved-over-the-top' part at the ends to go right. In fact, in many cases it's missing entirely. Anyway...
Tangles: Black Pearlz, Lotus Pods, Magma,
Phicops, Shattuck fans
Tangles: Black Pearlz, Knase, Paradox variation,
Pearlz, Phicops, Tipple, Zedbra
Yes, that is actually Phicops at the lower right. You'd hardly guess! I tried adding a lot of fancy stuff and it really didn't work well. Keep it simple.

  1. Oh Margaret, I like your fancy stuff! You always come up with many different ways to add dimension and intrigue.

  2. I would never have guessed that you of all people might have difficulty with a tangle - in an absurd way, that makes me feel better about my own struggles. I love all your phicops - so varied and creative! And your other tangles all seem so naturally part of each scene. You achieve such depth!

  3. These are fantastic. No need to worry about the curve part, these tiles look great, I always like what you create.

  4. I love the variations you've done--gorgeous! And it works perfectly well without the 'curved over the top"! Cool cool cool!!

  7. I love your variations of Phicops, it's lovely. I took am having problems with it, I just need to sit and play with it, maybe today.

  8. Well thank you all! I'll be trying this one again sometime. I really like the 'ancient life' or underwater feel I seem to get from it. Tangle on!

  10. I like the simple ones too, although I do really like the effect of the black pearlz down a few sections in that last one! Good exploration of an interesting tangle.

  11. I love how you take tangles and run with them. I never know what to expect when I look at your work... but I always know it's gonna be good :)

  12. I am having the same trouble with the "curve over the end part", more practice is needed on this one for me. Both of your tiles are lovely, and I think you've got it down better then you are giving yourself credit for. :)

  13. They are all great, but that lacy fancy phicops in the last one is beautiful. I see that it doesn't look like the others, but I love the fan-of-lace effect. I'm going to put that idea in my sketch pad. Thanks for the inspiration.
