I mean... Groovy man!
The Diva's Zentangle challenge
this week is to use the tangle
Groovy from Eden Hunt. This is a beautiful, wavy pattern and I can't believe I didn't know about it before! In my square tile I combined it with another tangle I discovered this week,
Rouche from Rose Brown, also lovely.

Tangles: Black Pearlz, Crescent Moon, Groovy, Rouche, elements of Tripoli |
I wanted to use a round tile. I also wondered if the Rounding technique might give Groovy more of the groove-iness that Eden mentions in her explanation of the origin of the tangle. Rounding gives it quite a different look, and I don't think it really did what I hoped it might, but it's interesting nonetheless. This is almost a monotangle; the only thing non-Groovy is the hints of Finery in the center.

i love your zendala! it's intricate in detail and really quite lovely! i like how the design looks like 4 totally different patterns!
ReplyDeleteYour Zendala is beautiful! It makes be feel very groovy!!
ReplyDeleteBoth your tiles came out perfectly. I think they are very beautiful. love 'n greetz, Ellen
ReplyDeleteBoth are exquisite. I think I like the round tile the best, but it's a very close call.
ReplyDeleteWonderful tiles. Your work is so precise. I especially like your choice of patterns in the first tile.
ReplyDeleteLove your Zendala, the stripes with sparkles look intricately woven.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, some really great variations here. I really like the ones that are filled in in every other stripe... A totally different vibe and somehow with more dimention. I agree about the madala... Those all look like distinct patterns to themselves! I also love how some of the patterns flow together in the top one. Great interpretations.
ReplyDeleteGreat Zendala.
ReplyDeletelove, love, love the edgeing especially!!
ReplyDeleteMargaret I love them both. As always you have such a wonderful stroke! I think the zendala - monotangle is quite GROOVY!!!
ReplyDeleteEach and every tile you fill with gorgeous tangles is amazing!
ReplyDeleteBoth very pleasant to look at!

I think I need one of your classes. Your work is amazing and I love how you "blend" your tangles. These are lovely.
ReplyDeleteYou never, ever, disappoint with the beauty of your mind!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how you found all those ways to use groovy. Especially in the Zendela, the outer edge design is so complex to me, i can't even figure out how you did that. Really wonderful examples.
ReplyDeleteHi Gloria, like a lot of tangles, it's not as complicated as the result looks! I did the tangle Groovy, then just filled the stripes in each section with alternating black and white stripes. I left little highlights on the black stripes. (I love those highlights!) Give it a try. :)
DeleteThese are both fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteBoth very lovely,
ReplyDeleteThe combination with Rouche is fantastic!
Wow, these are terrific! I 'specially love the zendala with the variations of groovy and the highlighting! The rounding and "elements" of finery are a great touch.
