This lovely, short video shows one way to draw a mandala using a series of simple shapes. I find the tone is very akin to that of Zentangle: go with the flow, don't agonize about it, there are no mistakes, see what happens.
I tried this using a standard 9 cm. (3.5") Zentangle tile and added some shading. Of course, you could add color. Or do it in colored ink. Or not bother with the shading (although it adds a lot!). Or... all kinds of things!
Margaret, I love this. You have inspired me to try one today. Thanks so much for posting the video.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting that video. And I love your example.
ReplyDeleteThis is very cool. The math geek in me wants to be very precise when I draw the initial framework for a mandala; I need to loosen up and try this more organic approach.
ReplyDeletethis is wonderful! thank you for sharing it...i love mandalas and have watched the monks make them many times... fascinating thing. and then after the hours of tapping grains of colored sand, they just sweep it way... wow!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing isn't it Sherri?! Giving the components back to the planet.
DeleteLovely, thank you
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this video. I've never been into mandalas, but I have to try it now. Yours looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI needed this today.... thanks for making a difference in the world with your gifts and talents!!
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Did you use colored pencil in the video? The soft colors are enchanting. I am inspired to do one myself.
ReplyDeleteI didn't make the video, just tried out the idea!
DeleteIt's from http://www.premaspace.com/mandalas/
and I think she used colored pencils for everything.
Thank you SO MUCH for posting that video! It is incredibly inspiring and perfect timing since I just received my Zendala set in the mail this week:)
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful, inspiring video. I was too intimidated to attempt to draw a mandala, (although I have filled in templates with tangles), but I've already drawn two mandalas since watching it. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove this video, and now I am really inspired to try this method of yours. THank you so much for sharing!
