This week, a new tangle appeared in the skies over Planet Zentangle. It has been named Ixorus and is well-suited for tangleation. (for what?) You can read all about it in the Zentangle newsletter. So smart Laura (the diva), knowing that we'd all be wanting to try it out anyway, proposed Ixorus as this week's zentangle challenge. I did two or three tiles before I had one I liked.
The first one seemed to be suffering from residual Orb-itude:
Then I seemed to get a handle on the design. I tried it various ways. Here's the one I like best. I like the black dots on the bottom edge finishing off those stray lines.
Both look grand, the way ixorus flows in and out is quite intriguing in the 2nd!
ReplyDeletegorgeous tiles! i can't choose a fav! both is different and captivant! however they both has your personal touch i like so much!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, Margaret. I love the lower right corner with the little light dots in the half moons. I love how this tangle dances.
ReplyDeletePlanet Zentangle........it does have a nice ring to it....You really captured the "pinwheel effect" I was hoping to create in your second tile.....nice energy. Maria
ReplyDeleteI agree, love the second one shown here!
ReplyDeleteBut I like to see the steps you took from the first attempt to its matured form.
Love your style…
oh, I like!
ReplyDeleteI like them both, but the 2nd one really grabs my eye! Love the compostion of it and how it looks like it is falling off the page and coming undone. Love it!
ReplyDelete# 1 is great, but #2 really grabs the attention! Looks like a creature of some sort trying to tip-toe off the tile before anyone sees her/him..... I like the light dots in the half-moons too.
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing Ixorus all over blogland today, but I like your interpretation best. I like the shading and yes, the little dots on the bottom... a nice finishing touch!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you let the tangles end without a hard line. Incredible!
ReplyDeleteThank-you all!
ReplyDeleteMaria, I think it really needs all those 'aura' lines to get the swirly effect. The first tile, where the background is filled with tiny circles, is kind of flat.
'Phine', you're so right about the maturing of the attempts!
Sandra (Molossus), that's one of the beauties of the pencil string! (If you can make the opportunity to take the CZT training, I'm sure you would love it!).
