I love the colors in this zendala, but now that it's finished I don't think I like all the black lines dividing the sections. On the other hand, it makes it look a little like a stained glass window. What do you think?

It's super. I do like the black as it is so minimal anyway.
ReplyDeleteActually seems like the black supports the color making it pop.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!
I think this is gorgeous! I wouldn't change anything about it. I also think that the black lines are very subtle and actually support the color adding to the dimension. Truly an inspiration!

I agree with Carmen - the black just makes the colors glow even more! Beautiful piece!
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing. I don't mind the black lines at all. I love your use of a minimal number of patterns. Very striking.
ReplyDeleteLess is more - a philosophy I rarely subscribe to! :P
DeleteBlack unites work together and I love the result!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! I think the little bit of black adds a fine contrast here.
ReplyDeleteI love it just the way it is. I think the black (and white) lines give it some more contrast, makes the colors pop!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you would have achieved the same feel of dimension without the black lines (but what do i know?). I think this zendala is absolutely beautiful! The colours (and shading) are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with this! Your work is so beautiful! I actually found it hard to determine what the black lines were that you referred to. I think it's amazing!
ReplyDeletelove it. as always.
ReplyDeleteI love the way it looks. The black is a great accent. I have a question, did you do this free hand? Or is it a zendala tile?
ReplyDeleteHi Grace, this was done on a blank zendala tile using Erin Olsen's zendala template #66. I rounded some of the corners a little more than they are on the template.
DeleteAs a quilter, I've found little bits of darks really make colors pop. I'd like to try Zentangle, but it seems few people in this area even know what it is. I love your blog and would take a class from you in a minute, but I'm in Michigan.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this!! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteI think it is the white lines that are much more dominant. Very nice
ReplyDeleteInteresting comment Heather. Now that I look at it again, I think you have a point!
DeleteThis is beautiful! Would you mind sharing your method for adding color?
ReplyDeleteHi Caren, in this particular piece I used acrylic washes in red, yellow, and blue. Sometimes I use water-soluable colored pencil. Usually I use colored ink to tangle, but not here.
DeleteWow - hard to believe that was a black tile . . . the colours are great. I agree that the black makes the colours 'pop'
ReplyDeleteSorry Carol, blaNk not blaCk. :)
DeleteOn a black tile, that would have been really impressive!
I love it. It does have the look of stained glass.
