A Little White Space

This week Laura the Diva has challenged us to leave a section of our tile blank, to not fill every space with tangles.

I had a tile with a square grid kind of string so I decided to try that first, and to use some square grid tangles that I like. Not much got left white!
Tangles: Beadlines, Black Pearlz, Camelia, Jalousie, Jemz,
Knightsbridge, Knightspeak, Seljuk, Sindoo (and variation), Yew-Dee
I managed to leave more white space on the second tile.
Tangles: Camelia, Knightsbridge, Pearlz,
Tipple variations, Yew-Dee, Yincut
I find it interesting how, when you leave a whole section white, the white spaces in the tangles seem to have more presence.

  1. Both are brilliant pieces of work. They display your mastery over a range of tangles, Margaret.

  2. It is amazing how the white space pops! I really love your attention to shading on the second tile. Beautifully done!

  3. These are wonderful Margaret! I'm seeing some nice tangles I have never heard of so I know what I will be doing later today! I love white space and I think you created an awesome piece on that second tile - but I love all your work!

  4. Both are beautiful! Especially I like the second one with this wonderfuldepth!

  5. You are absolutely right, Margaret - I have learned such a lot from this challenge. I love both your tiles but the second really emphasises the value that the white space can create in a tile well done. Axxx

  6. Excellent balance and contrast in your work Margaret, magnificent shading, very very well done :)

  7. Although there is not much white space in the first one I like this composition. Have not used it in a while but like Sindoo. Like the dimension that you gave it. Really like the shading in the second one. You always seem to come up with such creative and unique tiles.

  8. These are definitely Wowzers Margaret. I like the use of shaded light space, it gives movement.
