Three tiles with color

In this first tile I decided to do the string in ink, a kind of ink that bleeds when in contact with water. Then I spritzed some blue acrylic paint onto the tile and let it dry. I tangled in blue and black inks, added some white too, and used 2B and blue pencils for shading.
Tangles: Crescent Moon, Diva Dance, Firecracker,
Jalousie, Munchin, Romanancy, Tipple, and stripes with highlights

This tile began as a quick demo of six lines that could be used to construct a string to make a lotus or star on a round tile. I was about to throw it out when I thought, "No, I could do something with that."
Tangles: Crescent Moon, Florz, Paisley Boa, Tipple, Zedbra, Zewm
When I was doing some Ensemble tiles recently, one of the side tiles struck me as looking like a prairie landscape (if I turned the tile sideways). I copied the string on another tile and did a wash in blue and yellow, then tangled.
Tangles: Crescent Moon, Dust Bunny, Finery, Fracas,
Go 4th and Multiply, Ixorus, Pop-Cloud, Tipple

  2. Hi, Margaret, my favorite is the first one. So clever. Is there a name to the one that looks like the cloth is folded? Or maybe I should say, has a rod under it?

    1. Hi Angela, that tangle is called Romanancy and I helped name it! It's an 'official' tangle and was featured in a newsletter a while ago I think.

    2. I just checked. It's in the Zentangle blog post of Monday, February 25, 2013. You might also want to read my post from Wednesday, March 13 about it. Sorry, I'm using an iPad and can't copy and paste the links!

  3. Oh, I love how you were reminded of the prairie scene by a tangle you made. That happens to me a lot. I'll get done and it will remind me of a scene or a creature. well done...of course the prairie scene is my favorite, but they're all terrific!

  4. Margaret, now that you mention it, I'm remembering it. I just couldn't look it up without the name. So, Romanancy. I'll use it today, so that I remember it. Thanks!
