Pink ribbons

Tangles: Black Pearlz, Pearlz, Wud (with ribbons variation)
The Diva's challenge this week is to use pink, in honor of her grandmother and everyone who's dealt with breast cancer. October is breast cancer awareness month.

I used a two-pencil string to get the main ribbon. (You can search the Labels in the sidebar for more posts about two-pencil strings.) I wanted a very pink ribbony look for the whole thing so I began with a pink wash over the entire paper, then pink, black and white ink, and shading in pink.

  1. Ooooooooo.... super pink! Love it. I like the shine you put in the Diva Dance. Your shading is fantastic. Note to self: Buy some raspberry sorbet for this weekend... :)

    1. I used the pink micron, 01 size. I think it looks richer because of the pink wash underneath. In a few places I added red or brown micron for some deeper shadows (ends of small ribbons, dark sides of pearls).

  11. Wow, Margaret. Such a beautiful Tile. This is the result of many years of deep study and practice. So well done. Awesome design, and your line work is to aspire to. Love the colors used and the double reflection in the Red Pearls. You put your colors and shading effects in just all the right places. A pure delight this Tile is.

  13. This is tremendous, I love how bright it is, and yet I must say, it reminds me of spooky grimacing monsters glaring out from between the bedsheets or something. It startled me, and then made me laugh, and I looked at it for a long time! Well done.
