Have you noticed hubcaps?

I was out walking the other day and noticed an interesting hubcap. Then I noticed other hubcaps. What wonderful inspiration for mandala designs! Simply plug "hubcap photos" into an image search engine and you'll find lots of inspiration! Here are five, along with the hubcap that inspired them.

Tangles: Black Pearlz, Doodah, Fife, Hibred,
Prestwood, Skyesil, Zewm

Tangles: Dewd, Icantoo, Mazorito, Snail

Tangles: Crescent Moon, Fohbraid, Gewgle,
Tipple, Zewm

Tangles: Apacore, Cubine, and elements of
Moonwaves and Tripoli, and more.

    1. Thanks Ria. I recently saw the tangle named Lapwing, and thought "That looks a lot like Mazorito." I thought Mazorito had some of the stripes filled, and Lapwing was empty, but rather, the one begins with small circles and the other with more like dots. In fact, there is very little difference, and Mazorito was presented about two years earlier, so I will change the name in my tile label.
Thanks for inspiring me to check!

    1. Thank you Felicia! Someone once challenged Jasper Johns to make art out of maps of the states; he did it!

  7. Hi,
Great idea with the hubcaps. It reminds me of when I visited Spain 12 years ago. I noticed beautiful utility-hole covers and ended up taking photos of many of them! You've inspired me to go through my albums of that trip and see if I get any ideas from them.

    1. Thanks Colleen. Yes, I've seen some very impressive manhole covers too! There are cities that have commissioned artists to design some.
