I had a previous period of doing a lot of pen-and-ink work, then I got
more into painting, now I'm back to the pen-and-ink with Zentangle.
I recently sold my file cabinet and have been weeding my files. I've cut the paper down to half! In the process I discovered some of my old pen-and-ink drawings and
thought you might be interested to see some. My
love of pattern, repetition, and detail will be evident!
The waves and moon was the cover art on Quarry, a literary magazine, for a year.
This Oriental-looking carpet was done as an event poster. Event information went in the empty middle space. It was originally vertical.
This violin greeting card was a fund-raiser for the local symphony orchestra.
These roses are part of the endpapers in a YA novel.

I love your pen & ink work. I too enjoyed pen & ink drawing for a long time, so when Zentangle came along, it was meant to be!
ReplyDeleteA lot of my pen & ink work consists of stipples flowers. Here are some examples.
Lovely Genevieve! I particularly like the fuchsia and poppies. I've noticed your online class for drawing a rose.
DeleteThese are lovely Margaret. Such fun to find old drawings - not quite forgotten.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pen & ink drawings, you must have had the patience of a Saint to do the violin greeting card! All that delicate lace work! Just Beautiful! Your love of pattern, repetition, and detail were shared by many of the artists through time, the Kiss by Gustav Klimt is one of my favorite examples, and of course the Art Nouveau artist Alphonse Mucha's work too. Your illustrations remind me of my days in college... many moons ago. :)
ReplyDeleteGustav Klimt is a long-time favorite of mine. Back in the day I loved Aubrey Beardsley too. And Art Nouveau and Art Deco in general. And Paul Klee. I could go on!
Deletebeautiful - i love the violen!

ReplyDeleteLovely drawings!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great year ahead!
