Pinwheel zendala tiles

Pinwheels for Peace - that's this week's challenge from the Diva. You can read about the theme on her blog.

I thought immediately of the round zendala tiles from Zentangle and measured out a pinwheel to tangle. Part way into it I really did not like how it was going, but I thought, "Shading can hide a lot" and kept going. Seriously, I think anyone out there who doesn't like shading needs 'a knock upside de haid'. This turned out not badly at all! I like the plain white sections with just a bit of shading in the curves.
Tangles: Cruffle, Gneiss, Unyun
But I wanted to try another. I had more ideas.
Tangles: Florz, N'zeppel, Sanibelle, Shing
I still have ideas, but I don't think I have time!

  1. Love these both. Mandala is perfect with pinwheels design. I think #1 is my fave, the pop of white and your Gneiss are like little compass points. Lovely!

  5. So beautiful. Your pinwheel seems like it will lift off from the page. The first one is my favorite but both are lovely.

  6. These are both lovely, the shading is perfect and they look like they are ready to spin off the page. I really like the simplicity of a few tangles with the white space in the first one.

  7. The first one just thrills me with the dimension you shaded into the white areas.

  10. Really really nice - both of them! I love the shaded white - good way of showing what shading can do. Also love two tangles I haven't seen before - gneiss, and unyun. Thanks for listing the tangles used - it helps those of us who are newer and inquisitive!
