The challenge from the DivaCZT this week is a UMT (use my tangle) from Jane Eileen. You can find her step-outs here. This is a tangle that I had noticed earlier, and printed the how-to, and never got around to trying. Yaaay for diva challenges!
My first attempt went haywire. That's it at the top left. But, no mistakes right? I kept going and I quite like the 'not-8s-parte-dos' tangle that I ended up with! Try again in another section; this time success. This tangle is closely related to Huggins (small circles and curved lines) and W2 (small squares and straight lines) so I included them in this tile too.
Tangles: 8s-parte dos, Huggins, Tipple, W2 |
Now that I had the hang of it I thought I'd try leaving some of the small circles white. I think black is better; it looks more as if there's space behind. Then oops! See that section at the lower left? With the interesting curved lines filler? I did that because I curved a line in the wrong direction way back at the beginning. But I like it!
Tangles: 8s-parte dos, Knase, W2 |
Thank YOU! I like how you did so many different designs in it along with varation in shape and spacing!
ReplyDeleteYour tiles look great. I have been practicing and oh my what a mess.
ReplyDeleteI like your positive attitude toward "oopses!" Your tile looks perfect. That's the great thing about just moving on.
ReplyDeleteI love the way it morphed in the upper left of your first tile!
ReplyDeletelove what you've made of this challenge, such a diversity!
ReplyDeleteBoth are wonderful, I especially like the overlay you've done in V1. I wished My OOps looked as fab as yours!
ReplyDeleteIt was a tough challenge, wasn't it? I REALLY had to concentrate. I love how you turned your haywire tangle into a beautiful new one. I think I like it even better! Great tiles!
ReplyDeleteFun, I did some 'upside down' lines too, I love the way you fitted and connected the tangles.
ReplyDeleteAs always your magic touch with pen and pattern is so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteYou got organized in the second one but I quite prefer the first. Looks like what I imagine my brain looks like. :)
ReplyDeleteYou know Susan, I like the first one better too! I think there's more variety of tone, more darks.
DeleteBeautiful, as always!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a wowzer Margaret. I admire all your work and these are no exception.
ReplyDeleteBoth are lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your attempts and the missteps turned opportunities. It's giving me the push to try it. Lets see what happens... I LOVE your attitude!!!!!! Two great tiles.
ReplyDeleteThanks Angela. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this tangle!
DeleteLooks like you mastered this tangle, Margaret! Both are great!
ReplyDeleteBoth are wonderful! My favorite is the first one!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Susan. When I saw it I really like the transition into the tangle. I also like the contrast in the first. That being said, I also like the variations in the second tile. Love to see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteThey're both terrific, Margaret. But I also like the first one. It seems full of life.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with these 'oops'. That became two beautiful tiles.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, you never cease to amaze.
ReplyDeletevery beautyfull and creative!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous as always! I really need to embrace my "oops"'s more, but find it challenging!
ReplyDeleteThe black and white balance is always so tricky. I do love them both. I always admire your work, Margaret.
