A while ago my husband bought some tiny tomatoes in a container with an interesting star-shaped lid. Unfortunately it doesn't
quite fit on a zendala tile. Phooey. But it was terrific for this challenge! The lid and the first tile I prepared are below.
I traced the edge of this shape a few times across the tile. Then I did some of my many favorite tangles.

I'd recently tried some black-and-white on a tan tile and liked the result, so I decided to try this challenge like that. Again, I traced the edge a few times across the tile.

I couldn't resist trying the same thing on a zendala tile, still using the tomato lid for a string.

those are all really great. The contrast makes them sing! Love the black and white on the tan. Did you use Gellyroll? or something else for the white?

I just finished CZT #18 where Maria and Rick gave you all sorts of nods for detailed tutorials for some of their favorite tangles, and I realized I'd already added you to the resources I link to from my site. ReplyDeleteAwesome tiles margret! The black and white on the tan papers are so beautiful, the white is so bright! Tracing objects as a string is cool, loved the earlier post where you traced the cardboard leftovers from games!
ReplyDeletereally interesting shape that gives a repeating but still 'unpredictable' string. I also like the look of black and white on a tan tile. I have done a few over the last month or so as well, although I leave the white mostly for highlight - I like the look of it as a 'color area' as well. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteYour tiles are ALL stunning and I loved hearing what you used for your string. The look of black and white on the tan tile is beautiful, but I tend to love neutral colors or lack of color as it is. Your pieces are all beautiful.
