Circular tangles as mandala centers

Recently I commented that many of the circular tangles would make lovely centers in Zentangle-inspired mandalas. I decided to take my own suggestion. I got out my apple corer again to use as a small, simple mandala template. There are many circular tangles and I thought, best to start small. Here are the first ones.

At the center: Crossview
Other tangles: Black Pearlz, Caviar, Prestwood, Tortuca
plus rounding and stripes
At the center: Circfleur
Other tangles: Black Pearlz, Caviar, Circfleur again, Flux, Pearlz
At the center: Striped Snail
Other tangles: Black Pearlz, Caviar, Phuds
(Done on a parchment-y paper.)

  1. Your ZIMs are very beautiful and inspiring. I suspect that I will pull out my apple corer very soon.

  2. Got to love that apple corer for a small template! I got mine out recently too to make some small mandala's for a art show this summer. Your's always inspire me...beautiful!

  3. very very beautiful. I particularly like circfleur, and the crossview in the centre of your first one. All have their own strong personalities: fun, spiritual, elegant...

  4. Hi, It's me again crying about not being able to see all of your blog. How strange that some people get it and others don't. Can't think Maria and I are the only ones not -- wonder what we have in common?
For all of us dying of curiosity (me!), would it be possible to repost the Fibonacci entry and video??? If you can't find/correct the problem, that is... or tell me a round about way for me to get into past posts. Computers are wonderful, until you can't do what you want to do! Ha!

  7. Beautiful....I've got to keep practicing!

  8. These are just breathtaking. I have not tried a mandala yet, but you've inspired me.

  9. I just want to whoop and holler every time I come to your site, Margaret. The feeling of your art is always joyful, and your colors always peaceful. Thanks for the inspiration.

  10. Thanks so much everyone! More coming next week.

  11. Hi Margaret,
Just letting you know that I can only get about 4 posts on your blog. And I am way over the pond in Australia. I do hope you will be able to fix it as I love visiting your blog and learning from your art.

  12. What Carol said. Double it from me.

Plus, I am entranced by Mandalas of any sort. Yours intrigue me and draw me in.
Thanks for sharing them. They add beauty to my life.
