Tea? Coffee?

Here is a lovely white thermal carafe for serving tea or coffee when we have guests. Are you thinking what I was thinking?

We have three of the darn things and I thought it would be helpful if people knew what was inside without having to remove the lid, release some heat, and sniff the contents. So... yes... I tangled them! Ta-da!

I used Identi-pens. Oh, for a gray Identi-pen. We can wipe the carafes with a damp cloth with no damage to the drawing, but unfortunately they are susceptible to scratching and require the occasional touch-up. One carafe remains to be tangled.

  2. Could you tell me where you got the carafes? I LOVE them.
Someone told me you can mix a tiny bit of black acrylic paint with acrylic medium and get a gray tone. Could that work?

    1. They are Thermos brand. I got them half-price at a store that was closing.

    2. Very Cute. Will your 3rd be labeled "Decaf"? Was it challenging to work on a curved surface?

It appears working on a curved surface didn't cramp your style!

  4. WOW! such fun. These are stunning!!!! I found that you stay away from "windex-y" type cleaners with ammonia as well...they will strip away the black. I did a teapot once that lasted quite a while, until IT decided it needed new tangles!
    Life is good. M

  8. I like them, especially since I don't like coffee and no matter how hard you scrub the coffee taste still lingers and just doesn't work well with some other options.

  9. I actually found this exact coffee pot on Amazon for $13 which I didn't think was too bad as I NEED a new thermal pot.
(I am a coffee granny.) I had another thought about the chipping off of the paint. What about a couple of light coats of clear acrylic spray? I plan to try using Sharpie Oil-based paint markers (which I happen to have on hand). Sandy Bartholomew recommends them. Here at Hawthorne Park (in FL) we will have a Fine Art Show on Feb 24. I've been assigned to present a "Table full of Zentangles" (along with the 50 people I have taught since November)! I plan to show my "tiles" using a mobile. If anyone has any more ideas...let me know!

    1. If the crowd is a polite one, you might punch holes in some of your tiles and string them on a chain, then tape the chain around the table, like fringe. Or if you have a wall behind you, string the chain in swags back and forth behind you. Good luck at your show!! The carafes are such an inspiration!

  11. Wow, what a great idea!! I teach elementary art and we do a lot of black and white designs, I can it doodling, but now I do mention Zentagle and share the site with my students. We take a tour and talk about why certain designs appeal to them. Now I will have to share this idea with them.

If you get a chance check out my ETSY Site, my shop is called ArtrageousWearables, and I am pretty proud of my artwork to. I create discharge t-shirts starting with a black t-shirt in most cases.

I am not familiar with that type of pen so will have to google it.

    Have a great weekend.
